INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE ORGCHART DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM

The "ORGCHART" demonstration program is provided to illustrate some of the capabilities of the ITGraph(tm) custom control. In order to run the ORGCHART demo, you need to have the ITGRAPH.VBX and the ORGCHART.EXE files in a directory (e.g., an ORGCHART directory created for running the demo). Alternatively, the ITGRAPH.VBX file can be placed in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
********* OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS *********
TO ADD A NEW NODE: Click on the "EDIT-ADD NEW" menu item (the cursor will change to a "+"), then click on the location in the chart area where the new node is to be initially located.
TO SELECT A NODE: Click on a node to select it -- its background will then be light blue. Clicking on the graph area (but not on a node) will deselect currently selected node.
TO DELETE A NODE: Select the node to be deleted and click on the "EDIT-DELETE" menu item.
TO CHANGE TEXT IN A NODE: Type the desired text while the node is selected. The text can be cleared by use of the "EDIT-CLEAR TEXT" menu item.
TO MAKE A CONNECTION: Make sure the "APPEARANCE-MOUSE DRAG-CONNECT NODES" menu item is selected. Click on the node at which the connection is to originate and drag the mouse to the node to be connected to. Release the mouse to make the connection.
TO REMOVE A CONNECTION: Double-click on the connection which you desire to remove.
TO MOVE A NODE: Make sure the "APPEARANCE-MOUSE DRAG-MOVE NODES" menu item is selected. Click on the node of interest and drag it to the desired location.
DOUBLE-CLICKING ON A NODE: Double-clicking on a node will cause a dialog box to appear which provides the item index property of the selected node, and indicates the total number of nodes currently in the chart.
TO RESIZE THE SCREEN: The screen will be set to VGA (640x480) size when the program starts. You can set the screen to fill your monitor by clicking on the "APPEARANCE-SCREEN SIZE-FIT TO SCREEN" menu item (clicking on "APPEARANCE-SCREEN SIZE-STANDARD (VGA)" will return the screen to its default size). Alternatively, the screen can be resized by clicking on the borders and dragging to the desired size.
TO VIEW ALL OF A LARGE GRAPH: Selecting the "FIT TO SCREEN" option in the "APPEARANCE-SCALE" sub-menu will cause all of the graph to be displayed (the node sizes will be reduced, if necessary). Select the "100%" option to display the nodes full size.

********* MENU ITEMS *********
FILE-CLEAR: Clears the existing chart from the viewing area.
FILE-PRINT: Prints the current chart.
FILE-EXIT: Exit the ORGCHART program.
EDIT-ADD NEW: Cursor changes to a "+", to add a new node to the chart, click anywhere on the chart area. The new node will have a light blue background, and its caption will be set to "<NEW NODE>".
EDIT-DELETE: Deletes the currently selected node.
EDIT-CLEAR TEXT: Clears the text in the currently selected node.
APPEARANCE-MOUSE DRAG: Select the desired option from the sub-menu -- "CONNECT NODES" will cause a rubber-band to appear when a node is clicked and the mouse is dragged. Drag to the second node and release the mouse to make a connection. "MOVE NODES" will cause a node to move when it is clicked and the mouse is dragged.
APPEARANCE-SCREEN SIZE: Choose either Standard VGA (640x480) or Full-Screen from the sub-menu.
APPEARANCE-NODE SIZE: Choose from one of three node sizes from the sub-menu.
APPEARANCE-SCALE: Choose either 100% (i.e., the nodes will be shown full size, even if some are "off-screen") or Fit To Screen (node sizes adjusted so that all are shown) from the sub-menu.
ARRANGE-NOW: Clicking on this menu item will cause a one-time automatic arrangement of the chart.
ARRANGE-ON NEW CONNECTION: When this menu item is selected, the chart will be automatically arranged when a new connection is made.
